Welcome to Mandan
Mandan’s slogan, “Where the West Begins”, embodies our community’s rugged and hearty nature evident in our terrain, people, annual celebrations, and heritage, first as a village for the Mandan tribe, then a cavalry fort, railroad town and hub for area ranchers and farmers. Today, Mandan is a growing city passionately retaining its hometown atmosphere and history. Our community bursts with pride when hosting special events that draw thousands of visitors year after year. Some of these special events include Touch-A-Truck, Buggies-n-Blues, Art In the Park and Oktoberfest, just to name a few. Other attractions include Ft. Lincoln State Park and the Custer House, the Railroad Museum, Raging Rivers Water Park, Huff Hills Ski Area, auto racing at Dacotah Speedway, two golf courses, 30+ miles of walking and bike trails, a soccer complex, a baseball field, softball diamonds, tennis courts, indoor swimming pool, skateboard board park, 17 neighborhood parks, and a dog park. Mandan is also known for its many restaurants which offer many cuisines, some of which have served the city for decades, one such restaurant is our very own Ohms Cafe. Ohms Cafe has been in Rhonda Schantz’s family for 26 yrs. It is definitely one of the places to go to for homemade and German food when in Mandan.
